Bowling & Pizza

Today Teddy had a half day of school, so I took off work & we had some fun with my friend Elaine & her kids. First we went to Pizza Hut for lunch, since Teddy & 2 of her 3 kids had free kids meal coupons from reading books at school. We got there around 12:30, but there were quite of few other folks eating in the dining room. It actually took about 20 minutes for the waitress just to take our order! Luckily the kids just crawled under the table for the most part, so things weren't too bad.

After we finally got out of the Hut (between 2-2:30!) we went bowling. We went to Imperial Bowl, which is a typical bowling alley: it stinks like cigarettes & beer, it's got all those lockers against the wall that I guess people use (?), & it has a game room filled with an air hockey table & video games from 20 years ago. But it has one other thing that I've never seen in another bowling establishment--ceiling fans. A whole crap load of them. There's at least a dozen out front, one for every 2 lanes. And there's one in the game room. Little White is his name.

The weather was rainy & foul today, with a little chill in the air, so the fans weren't on. That was OK with Ted, as long as Little White was on. Which he wasn't. So he was pissed. The whole time there was spent with him running to the game room & trying to figure out some way to turn on Little White. At first Teddy begged me to pull the chain dangling from LW. So I did, but he didn't come on. Then he begged me to do it again. Still, it didn't come on. So he begged Elaine to pull it. It didn't come on. You'd think that would deter the boy. But no. He tried to jump up & grab the chain himself, which wasn't a realistic goal. We started to bowl, but after each time he took his turn he would run to the game room to gaze in a loving way at Little White.

Thus passed our bowling adventure! All in all we had a good time, despite hunger & exhaustion. It was a fun day!
